Press release
The French government has decided to reinforce security measures in the "Vigipirate" anti-terrorism plan, in particular at sites considered to be of critical importance to the nation.

The Defense Ministry has informed COGEMA that the reprocessing plant at La Hague has been put on the list of sites to get added protection because the installation is a key part of the system that guarantees France's energy independence.

Measures are going to be put in place at the plant in the coming days to ensure maximum security. The government's decision is in line with the Group's position, stated several times since Sept. 11, that it is the responsibility of the military to provide the means to protect this installation in the event of a terrorist attack.
