Press release

The COGEMA Group's new internal magazine "Perspectives" received the Special Jury Prize at the 2002 awards ceremony of the French Union of Journalists and Corporate News Publications (UJJEF) on 15 October. Unlike the other awards presented by the UJJEF, the Special Jury Prize is not limited to a specific category of publication. It is given out on behalf of press and corporate communications professionals "to honor innovation, risk-taking and creative ambition."

The jury declared that by its unanimous decision to recognize COGEMA, it wanted to salute "the originality of COGEMA's approach to internal news publications. Here one finds unvarnished strategic content and a frank preference for avoiding clichés. COGEMA's employees must be able to answer nuclear energy's detractors, and this magazine gives them real information the substance they need to respond to the attacks.

The company's management thus assumes its responsibility toward its employees and does not deny the obvious: they work in a controversial sector, so the company is giving them the means to respond in an informed way. This is a truly innovative approach and one that can serve as an example."

Commenting on the prize, Michel-Hubert Jamard, vice president communication, says that "above all it honors the work of the editorial committee, which brings together for each issue representatives of the communication departments of the business units and sites as well as the human resources and other corporate departments."
