The challenge

Limit the over exploitation of natural resources
Water is the main natural resource used at Pierrelatte, as it is essential for uranium treatment.  In 2004, water consumption at the Pierrelatte site totaled 1.6 million cubic meters drawn mainly from the surface water of the Donzère-Mondragon canal (a subsidiary of the nearby Rhône River). Water was also drawn from ground sources to a lesser extent.
