Brief
The third unit of the Qinshan nuclear power plant in Haiyan county, eastern Zhejiang province, entered service 91 days ahead of schedule on 12 June. With two 728 MW heavy water reactors fabricated in China based on Canadian technology, this is the largest project ever to be co-financed by China and Canada. The reactors are to generate 10 billion kilowatt-hours per year over their 40-year service life.
