After the 1st facility, the 2nd spent fuel shearing and dissolution facility has been started up, representing the end of the programmed shutdown and the achievement of all the summer's work shops.

During this week, the Establishment treated 23,5 tons of spent fuel assemblies from EDF power plants and from the Neckar german power plant.

Two of the six lines of vitrification of fission products were in service. Since the beginning of the year, 327 canisters have been produced.

It should be noted that the facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 71 canisters of compacted residues since its startup at the end of the year 2001.

Shipment activity :

A shipment containing four casks with 38 spent fuel assembling coming from the Stade, Brokdorf and Grafenrheinfeld german power plants, arrived on August 22 at 12:36 pm at the Valognes railway terminal.

Mission accomplished for the deconstruction of the sections of the former sea release pipeline

On August 23 in the evening, the last of the four sections of the sea release pipeline was lifted to a work area at the foot of the Moulinets dam to be conditioned before its evacuation. This work was undertaken respecting the schedule and the environmental requirements fixed by the Establishment.

It should be noted that the beginning of the retrieval and conditioning operations of deposits collected during cleaning work on the actual release pipeline starts next week.

Welcome to our japanese trainees

A third team, of 15 japanese trainees, have arrived on the plant to receive training on facility operating and maintenance. This session, called " model campaign " is part of the COGEMA-JNFL(2) cooperation program of assistance for the start up of the japanese spent fuel reprocessing plant in Rokkasho Mura previewed for 2005.
