Following final preparations, all facilities were shut down on Friday, December 31, 1999 for rollover to the year 2000. No malfunction was reported for the plant.

At the UP2 plant, all units are shut down in the R1 head-end facility. Scheduled outage work is in progress. A total of 849 metric tons of uranium were sheared in 1999.

At the R7 vitrification facility, all three lines are shut down. A total of 266 canisters of glass were produced in 1999.

At the UP3 plant, all units are shut down in the T1 head-end facility. Scheduled outage work is in progress. A total of 713 metric tons of uranium were sheared in 1999.

At the T7 vitrification facility, lines A and B are shut down. Start-up of line C is in progress. A total of 358 canisters of glass were produced in 1999.


Work in the Moulinets Cove

Work continues on modifications to the discharge pipe in the tidal basin:

- radiological monitoring of sediments has revealed no anomalies, although there are fluctuations close to the old discharge pipe;
- final excavation of the center section continued despite difficult oceanic and meteorological conditions.
