Treatment activity:

During this period, the UP2 800 and UP3 plants treated 15 tons of spent fuel. From all treated assemblies, a total of 34 tons have been processed to date this year.

During this period, 2 canisters of vitrified fission products have been produced(1) in R7 and 2 in T7, vitrification facilities.

The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 32 canisters of compacted residues. Since the beginning of the year, 72 canisters have been produced.

...the return of a cask containing 28 containers of  vitrified residues to Belgium last Tuesday, January 17th. Realized according to the intergovernmental agreements, the transport left the terminal of COGEMA LOGISTICS at 12:13 am and joined, the next day, the site of storage in Dessel ( Belgium).

(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
