Treatment activity:
During this period, the factory started the maintenance actions of the installations, within the inter-campaign work 2004 planned this summer.
During this period, 13 canisters of vitrified fission products have been produced(1).
Since the beginning of the year, 369 canisters have been produced.
It should be noted that the facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 31 canisters of compacted residues. Since the beginning of the year, 636 canisters have been produced.

Inter-Campaign 2004:
Like each year, the majority of the UP2 and UP3  facilities are shut down to allow rinsings, as well as modifications, work of preventive or corrective maintenance and controls according to regulations.
This tasks are carried out in the permanent concern to maintain the tool on level and to respect the production plan.
This important period in the life of the establishment represents tens of thousands of working hours. It thus acts each year of an investment and an important challenge for COGEMA employees and subcontractors.
Even if many operations are envisaged this summer, it is important to recall that the main maintenance work is held throughout the year.
This yearn a part of the facilities  of UP2 800 will be in stopprolonged in neighbourhds of November 20, 2004 to allow a spreading out of work.

   
(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
