Treatment activity:

During this period, the plants treated 15 tons of spent fuel. From all treated assemblies, a total of 491 tons have been processed to date this year.

During this period, 10 canisters of vitrified fission products have been produced(1) in R7 and 6 in T7, vitrification facilities. Since the beginning of the year, 546 canisters have been produced.

The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 33 canisters of compacted residues. Since the beginning of the year, 758 canisters have been produced.

Like each summer, The UP2 and UP3  facilities are temporary shut down to allow rinsings, as well as modifications, work of preventive or corrective maintenance and controls according to regulations.

...the 40th birthday of the plant AREVA NC of La Hague.
On Saturday, July 1st, the Establishment AREVA NC of La Hague celebrated its 40 years in the presence of the employees and of their families. For the occasion, an exposure was organized, redrawing the big dates of the site. It is opened to the public from Monday till Friday from 10:00 am till 6:00 pm until August 31st.  

 

(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
