Treatment activity:

During this period, the UP2 800 and UP3 plants treated 22,5 tons of spent fuel.
From all treated assemblies, a total of 449 tons have been processed to date this year.

During this period, 14 canisters of vitrified fission products have been produced(1) in R7 and 14 in T7, vitrification facilities.
Since the beginning of the year, 393 canisters have been produced.

The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 30 canisters of compacted residues.
Since the beginning of the year, 478 canisters have been produced.

The inauguration of the  "Espace information" new formula which presents the activity of the site at the public under conditions still improved of user-friendliness and pedagogy. Opened every days, the "Espace information" is a place of free discovered Group AREVA/COGEMA and its activities, with informative panels, projections vidéos and models. It is used as preamble with the Visit Buissonnière, guided tour in the bus -completely free - which leads the visitors within the natural framework of the Cape of La Hague to discovered points of monitoring  environmentand initiatives of the COGEMA La Hague to preserve it.

(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
