During this period, the UP2 800 and UP3 plants treated 46 tons of spent fuel. From all treated assemblies, a total of 750 tons have been processed to date this year.

During this period, 4 canisters of vitrified fission products have been produced(1) in R7 and 6 in T7, vitrification facilities. Since the beginning of the year, 617 canisters have been produced.

The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 32 canisters of compacted residues. Since the beginning of the year, 862 canisters have been produced.

The actuality is also...

On September 27, the COGEMA La Hague plant was crowned with a trio of Quality, Health & Safety, and Environmental certifications under the international standards ISO 9001, OHSAS(2) 18001 and ISO 14001 by AFAQ, the French association for quality assurance. The certification constitutes recognition of the company’s continuous improvement systems in all three fields. The site thus joins a small circle of some 30 French companies who have such certification, but this marks the first time in France that a plant site of this size has received recognition for all three.

(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
