Treatment activity:
 
During this period, the UP2 800 and UP3 plants treated 21 tons of spent fuel. From all treated assemblies, a total of 657 tons have been processed to date this year.

During this period, 26 canisters of vitrified fission products has been produced(1) in the vitrification facilities. Since the beginning of the year, 707 canisters have been produced.

The facility of hulls compaction (ACC) produced 34 canisters of compacted residues. Since the beginning of the year, 1006 canisters have been produced.

The actuality, it is also... 5400 visitors to the La Hague Information Center

Between April 3 and September 30, 2006, AREVA La Hague’s Information Center welcomed 5400 visitors keen to find out about the site’s activities. More than three-quarters of them chose to go on a guided tour during which they were able to discover the site’s environmental monitoring system and take in the magnificent sea views around Cap de La Hague at the tip of the Cotentin Peninsula.

Further tours will be organized between October and March and can be booked on 02.33.02.60.08.

(1)The fission products (ultimate residues of spent fuel) are incorporated in heated glass to approximately 1100°C. The whole is poured in stainless steel containers. The fission products are an integral part of stable, compact and resistant glass. This process is called vitrification.
