Treatment activity :
During this period, the Establishment treated 12 tons of spent fuel assemblies from a batch of OBRIGHEIM fuel (1300 MW) . From all treated assemblies, a total of 229.30 tons have been processed to date this year. Three of the six lines of vitrification of fission products were in service. The maintenance operations continued on the other lines. Since the beginning of the year, 88 canisters have been produced. It should be noted that the facility of compaction of hulls (ACC) produced 19 canisters of residues compacted since its startup at the end of 2001.

Shipment activity :
A shipment containing 1 TN52L cask of 52 spent fuel assemblies coming from swiss power plant of Leibstadt arrived on April 22 at 9:28 pm at the railway terminal of Valognes.

The actuality, it is also... Work of location on the zone of marling, of the old pipe of liquid releases was completed. The Establishment wait the authorizations from the safety authorities for the continuation of the operations.



(1)the Treatment consists in separating, within spent fuel, on the one hand, the reusable materials - uranium and plutonium - in order to recycle them and, on the other hand, the ultimate residues - fission products and other waste - in order to condition them in a sure way.
(2)It is about the metal envelope of the spent fuel assemblies as well as metal waste resulting from maintenance operations of the installations.
