The Theodora association offers hospitalized children a little bit of comfort and a moment of relaxation with clowns who visit hospital pediatric wards.
AREVA Corporate Foundation has been a partner of Théodora since 2010 and renewed its support for two more years, 2014 and 2015, so that the visits by these “Dream Doctors” can continue in the orthopedic surgery and intensive care units of Robert Debré hospital.
In 2015, Dream Doctors paid 100 visits to more than 2,500 hospitalized children, enabling them to escape the reality of their illnesses for a few moments. With them, 3,500 parents, brothers, sisters and caregivers eagerly await the Dream Doctors, to put a smile back on the faces of the children.
The Théodora association’s “Dream Doctors” are professional performers who have been trained to work in the hospital environment.
Ever since its creation in October 2000, Theodora has been covering 109 French hospitals and works in about 15 pediatric wards. Each year, 20,000 children get the benefit of the visits coordinated by the association’s 22 clowns.
For children taken away from their familial environment and their emotional bonds, hospitalization can be an ordeal. Theodora’s Dream Doctors are there once a week to help them get their minds off their troubles for a while.
