Press Release

AREVA received the 2013 highest award from the French Agency for the employment of Managers (Apec) for its efforts in support of gender equality. This award, presented by Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, French Minister of Women’s Rights and Government spokesperson, recognized the implementation of a program for “annual part-time work for school vacation” at our site in Lyon, France.

Started in 2008 on an experimental basis and made permanent in 2009, this program allows parents on part-time schedules to voluntarily work full-time during the year and accumulate the time to be used during the school vacation periods.
They are also offered the possibility, notably for single-parent families, to be with their children during the vacation period.

Following this success, AREVA decided to expand this program “annual part-time work for school vacation” to the group in France. On December 12, 2012, an agreement on professional equality was signed integrating this program.

“One of the cornerstones of the human resources policy, AREVA works for the advancement of gender equality in the workforce. Our promising results are the outcome of the joint effort of our employees and the human resources department.
This year, we expect that 25% of the group’s new hires will be women and hope to increase the number of female apprentices, which is already counts women as 35% of its population,”
said Luc Oursel, President of AREVA.

Today, female executives represent 22% of the committee boards of AREVA’s different entities – and more than 25% of the “Executive Management Board”. The group has set two new strategic objectives: to have a 25% female representation in its committee boards by 2014 and 40% representation on the board of directors in 2015.
