In brief

AREVA Renewables CEO Louis-François Durret was elected to the Board of Governors of the Syndicat des ÉnergiesRenouvelables (renewable energies union) during the Combined General Meeting held in Paris on Tuesday, October 22. Composed of 27 members, the Board of Governors consists of a Chairman, an Honorary Chairman, 15 governors directly elected by the General Meeting and commissions Chairmen, selected from among its 400 member companies.

The appointment is a sign of the confidence SER members have in AREVA’s expertise and strengthens the group’s leadership position in renewable energies. Present in this sector since 2001, AREVA is one of the trio of European leaders in offshore wind and remains the foremost builder of biomass power plants to this day.

On the same day, Marc Laur, director of the group’s Bioenergy activities, was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Bioenergies section of the SER (France Biomass Energy).

Philippe Kavafyan, director of AREVA’s Offshore Wind France division, has filled the position of Chairman of the Offshore Division of SER’s wind commission since January 31, 2013.

We are really pleased about these positions within the SER. They will enable us to contribute fully to collective actions on behalf of our industry. We must unite our forces with the sector’s leading players to create the conditions for the successful deployment of renewables in France. The growth of this industry, which creates jobs and opens export markets, should be our shared objective,” said Louis-François Durret, CEO of AREVA Renewables.
