Clean-up: The recovery of process waste leading up to the dismantling of the Bugey 1 reactor

News Brief

In 2006, EDF signed with AREVA’s Cleanup Business Unit a baseline contract, which covered the studies and the recovery of process waste leading up to the dismantling of the Bugey 1 reactor.

As a result of the first studies carried out in 2007-2008, certain contract components significantly changed the scope of the original project.

After having suspended the launch of the work phase, EDF requested costing procedures for a rider, signed on October 4, 2010, to carry out the sampling procedures on all treated waste (which entails sorting by type of waste) and to factor in all new input data on the waste to be treated.

The Cleanup teams will start updating the studies in November 2010. The work at the site will take place from late 2011 to mid-2015.

AREVA’s Cleanup BU and EDF worked together on this project with a real sense of partnership and accountability for both technical and financial aspects, providing a serene working environment for all the teams involved.
