News brief

In May 2010, Greenpeace published an accusing report "Left in the Dust" about AREVA's mining activities in Niger. The document, made public by the NGO, came out after a constraint-free visit of their delegation to AREVA's mining sites in Niger in November 2009, during which delegates have also had the opportunity to take measurement in the streets of Arlit and Akokan.

AREVA and the Mining Business Group had engaged into a process of full transparency towards this international stakeholder by allowing its representatives to visit freely all our mining sites while facilitating their visit to sites both administratively and logistically.

The Mining Business Group is a responsible mining operator. It has written a response to Greenpeace's accusations. This technical and factual response is provided in the document "AREVA and Niger, a sustainable partnership", and is made available publicly to all stakeholders (civil society, AREVA's employees, authorities, clients & partners ...).
