Preventing illiteracy: AREVA Corporate Foundation reinforces its commitment

9/19/2014
In brief

All of the partners participating in the “Taking action together against illiteracy” movement in 2013 have elected to strengthen their cooperation by organizing the first national action days against illiteracy from September 8 to 12, 2014. The objective is to build collective awareness, highlight what works, and roll out new solutions.

The week of actions was an opportunity to reiterate the AREVA Corporate Foundation’s strong commitment to preventing illiteracy: it has been a partner of the National Agency for Illiteracy Prevention (ANLCI, Agence nationale de lutte contre l’illettrisme) since 2012 and renewed its support in 2014 for an additional three years.

The Foundation supports the deployment of Family Education Actions that help parents refresh their knowledge of the basics at a time when their children are beginning to learn them in school. Seven units located near AREVA sites are supported in metropolitan France, such as the “Pied à l’étrier” association in Bollène, the national adult education program (“Greta”) in Chalon-sur-Saône, and the “Mots et Merveilles” association in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region.
